Jake dried off his hands quickly on the dishtowel in the kitchen, leaving it in a bunch on the counter before he plucked his apple off the edge of the sink and immediately took a bite before taking another step. It crunched sweetly, fresh and loud enough to be heard on the other side of the room, if anyone had been there to hear it. With another bite he once again took up walking to the sitting room, where he fell back onto the couch and stretched his legs across it, purposely sitting in the sun, eating the apple almost blissfully.
Avery was on the other couch the a book, and looked up when Jake entered with another crunch, watching him flop over the couch and lounge back, apple never leaving his lips. After a moment of just watching him eat half way around the apple with careful and precise bites Jake finally looked up at Avery as if noticing him for the first time (actually he probably had) and grinned. He took another bite and raised his eyebrows at the other boy when he continued to watch him, book now nearly forgotten in his lap. Jake brought his eyes back to his apple and licked it, licking his thumb too, absently, to catch a drop of juice.
A second later he found Avery in his lap, looking at him intently, or maybe it was his apple. Or it could have been his lips, moist and parted slightly in surprise as he looked up at him. He didn’t have much time to wonder either as Avery leaned forward, fingers curling around Jake’s wrist and lowering the hand holding the apple enough so he could kiss the other boy, softly, tongue running along Jake’s bottom lip and then pushing inside for only a moment or two before he pulled back again to look at him. Jake could only watch as Avery lifted Jake’s hand to his own mouth to take a bite of that apple, smirking now just slightly around the sharp snap, and licking his lips before kissing Jake again.
