Jack rubbed his eyes and leaned back in the chair that creaked. "I hate this."

"You love this," Avery reminded him, wrapping his arms around Jack's shoulders from behind and kissing his cheek.

"Avery?"

"Yeah, Jacky?"

"Why aren't you wearing trousers?"

"I didn't go to school today!" Jack nodded and tilted his head back, and when Avery stood on tiptoe to bend over his face, Jack reached back and grabbed his bum. Avery squeaked. "Don't ruin my cities!" The newest briefs were green, and had cityscapes in different colours across Avery's arse. Jack wanted to live in that city.

"Want to he--"

"Nope!" Avery squirmed away, but pulled Jack's chair back the next moment and sat in his lap. Jack had already told Avery about his day, and in return, Avery had detailed the cartoons that he'd seen. Each of them had pretended to be less interested than they actually were. Jack really wanted to know if Avery had missed him. If he'd had sex with Jake, and when, and how. Avery wanted to know if Jack had figured himself out yet, what he wanted to be. If all of this school would teach him that the best accomplishment was a day in bed with his boyfriends. Avery was perfectly content with not going to school; he was perfectly content with Jack going. He wasn't jealous of Jack's interest in it, either--well, he had been. But now he was just happy that Jack was happy. And that was working just fine.

"Love you, doll." Jack tilted his face up and slid his hands down Avery's back, pencil abandoned. Avery leaned down slightly and leaned his forehead against Jack's, shifting slightly until the sides of their noses touched. Their breath was quiet, but almost ticklish on skin that hadn't been touched in hours.

"Love you too," Avery whispered, and Jack whispered back.

"Are we going to have sex now?"

Avery laughed, stood up and hit Jack's shoulder. "Do your precious work." He stayed, though, behind Jack's shoulder, and when Jack reached back for him he smiled.

"I'd rather do my precious boyfriend."

"Fiancé?"

"Oh, even better."

Laughing, grinning, they went upstairs, Avery stealing Jack's glasses and wearing them until he was lowered onto the sheets. He spread his legs and Jack pulled the green briefs down and Avery reached up to slide the buttons open on Jack's shirt.

Downstairs, a textbook sat open and forgotten.
